Ferme Hay Day is located in the Calvados region, just outside the villages of Asnières-en-Bessin and Englesqueville-la-Percée, about 3 km away from the Normandy coastline.
For your daily groceries you can either go to Vierville-sur-Mer (3 km), Grandcamp-Maisy (9 km), Isygny-sur-Mer (18 km) and Bayeux (20 km).

The direct environment of the farm is characterized by beautiful scenic landscape, bordering the Parc Naturel et Régional des Marais. In the area farmers are traditionally active.


Local activities:

 

  • (20 min) the medieval city of Bayeux for its nice shops, Saturday market and its famous cathedral and tapestry (70 m long embroidery of William the Conqueror's conquest of England)

  • (5-10 min) the famous Omaha Beach areas of Vierville-sur-Mer, St. Laurant-sur-Mer and Colleville-sur-Mer

  • (10-15 min) the rocky D-Day landingbeaches and harbours of Port-en-Bessin, Arromanches and the fishing village of Grandcamp-Maisy

  • (10-15 min) various war museums like the D-Day Omaha museum in Vierville-sur-Mer and the Overlord Museum in Colleville-sur-Mer

  • (5 min) impressive Pointe du Hoc at only 3,5 km away

  • (10-20 min) militairy cemeteries like the American cemetery in Colleville-sur-Mer, the British cemetery in Bayeux and the German cemetery in La Cambe

  • various restaurants and eateries in nearby coastal towns and in Bayeux

  • 18 holes golf course (Omaha Beach Golf Club) in Port-en-Bessin

  • various castles, like the calvados and cider Chateau nearby (2 km) in Englesqueville-la-Percée and le Chateau de Colombières (13 km)

  • weekly organized 'brocante' markets, ‘vide greniers’ in the region

 

Activities further away:

  • (40 min) regional capital Caen with its impressive buildings like l’Abbaye aux Hommes, l’Abbaye aux Dames, le Chateau and l’Hotel de Ville. Also the racetrack is well worth the visit. Caen also holds facilities like swimming pools and a carting track.

  • the 'must-do' of Normandy: le Mont Saint Michel at 1.5 hrs drive

  • walking, kayaking, climbing in the mountainous Suisse Normandie at 75 mins drive (Clécy, Roche d’Oetre)

  • forest area ‘Foret de Cericy’ near the town of Balleroy at 30 mins drive, also for visiting castles and museums (like the hot air balloon museum)

  • funpark Festyland (near Caen) at 35 mins drive

  • zoo Jurques at 50 mins drive
